Tom, I've only filled up twice on mine.

I had 50 something mpg the 1st 150 miles.

On the second tank I got about 180.

The computer MPG calculater was within 2-4MPG of actual.  Probably more like 1-2.

I hate running out of gas!  Been there. Done that.

Hello again all.

Does anyone have any experience “hypermiling” on their Burgman?

On my Ninja I would often pull in the clutch and coast to stop lights from quite a ways back.  Can't do that with an automatic transmission though. Smile

So what other tricks does anyone use to eak out a few more Miles Per Gallon?

Thanks all.

The main ways to save gas and improve mileage on a Burgman is to slow down to the speed of traffic around you both when cruising at a steady speed and accelerating away from a stop. That hard acceleration, which feels so good, really costs in gas consumption.

How accurate do you guys find the mileage calculator on your scoot?

Aside from the fact it drives me crazy that if won't calculate over 50mpg, I have found mine to be deadly close!

I left Beaufort, SC headed for home one morning, kinda in a hurry, needing to make it to work at a decent time.  When I got on 95 it wasn't all that busy, so I decided to go against my normal policy of not ridiing on the interstate.

So over in the left lane, just a huck-a-buckin', I begin to think about my mileage and where I could get to…the calculator is showing 48mpg…surely I can squeeze an extra 2 miles out of it…that way I can make the Flying J in Rockhill.

So, a mile and a half from the Flying J, I'm walking up the Interstate when a nice HD owner picks me up….then carries me back to my bike.  Said he'd done the same thing before.

From that time on…if it says 48…you can bet I don't question it!Wink

I just switched to a synthetic oil, it seems to have yeilded a plus 1 mpg. We'll have to see over the long haul. Slowing down would help alot , but isn't nearly as funSmile.

The Red mist can strilke a scooter rider?

I have been able to resist so far since I am in break in, but it is HARD!

I suspected adding the top case would drop my mileage, but "down to" 57 mpg isn't so bad.

Does the GIVI windscreen keep the dash area completely dry in the rain?  I was thinking about putting speakers in my small storage areas left and right, but it rained and those areas got a little bit wet with the stock screen.

I've given up trying to hypermile. When I get on I just want to go fast.

My one claim to fame here, I'm the guy that started the BurgmanRiders.com site.

I have found that cruising at about 60 mph and holding it there is about the best I can do for MPG. Also, it appears that adding anything in the way of accessories will cut mileage down. In my case, adding a top box and GIVI windscreen has cost me several miles off what I was getting with everything stock. Was getting about 65 mpg last summer. Now getting about 57. That's on a Burgman 400.

Since I am in Break-In period I won't be turning it off at long lights(2 minutes or more) for a while.
