I would love to get the problems sorted on my K8 It feels like an old crate at low speeds and low revs. When i took it in to the main dealer back in Dec 2009 they mumbled about the new Injection Burgmans being rougher at low revs than the older carb versions. I would have thought injection engines should be smoother to carbs

Dan:

Glad to hear all went well for you.  I have my K8 (400) in the shop since Jan 2010 for this install.  Do not know when I'll get it back.  I also have it in the the auto shut-off problem as well, that's why it's taking so long.  Too much snow and salt on the roads here in MD to ride anyway.  Hopefully will get back by warm weather anyway, better in the warm dealer shop then my cold winter storage.

Update on my K8 400 vibration. After taking it in and showing them the service bulletin they ordered the parts and i waited. Three weeks later the dealer called and said it was ready. Picked it up Saturday, a little break in the weather and to my surprise, the cost was $0. Suzuki picked up the parts and labor. Rode it home and it was smooth and no juddering or vibration. A little slower off the line but smooth, which is what i wanted.

So for the others out there, it looks like Suzuki has stepped up to repair a design flaw.

Roger, again thanks for providing me the service bulletin number.

Happy and safe riding.

Thanks, Tivvi.

It's always nice to get a bit of background. Mine's plastered all over this forum, in different places. I was Burgermiser, until someone pulled the rug from under my feet.  Yell  Laugh

The recall bulletin has only been released very recently, in the UK.

So that dealer, you spoke of, wouldn't have known anything about it, at that time.

The bulletin was released back in February 09, StateSide. Surprised

Which should please bigkoala, no-end. Wink

As it's a K8,  your " MAIN DEALER " should have had a bulletin from Suzuki, by now, to modify the clutch, under warrantee.

So go back to them, and remind them of their obligation. And don't be fobbed-off with any excuses. It must be a MAIN DEALER, though.

Any " MAIN DEALER " will do warrantee work, as they will get paid for it, by Suzuki.

Tell us a bit about yourself, Dave. Where are you from.? etc.

Hi Alto1

Thanks for the reply, having checked the Documents to my bike it is a K8 registered on 1st May 2009 and the 5100mls were covered by the 15th August 2009 The chap who purchased it new toured part of europe and only keeps bikes on average 6mth and swaps scooter to race and currently has a trail type bike, but I am told looks after the bikes when I purchased it on Sept 22nd it was in unmarked condition and still is but this vibration drives me nuts!! maybe I can get it looked at with it being a K8

Cheers

Hi, Tivvi. Wecome to the forum.

I was wondering, 5,000 miles in 5 months, seems a lot of miles in a short space of time. It may have had a hard early life.

Having said that, my 400 K9, new in September, had the same problem. But Suzuki, through the dealer, has said the K9 was sorted out in the build.

They are only recalling K7's, and K8's.

Even the mechanic, who test rode it said there was no problem, with it.

But I heard and felt it, on the way home.

Strangely, though, I haven't heard it " Howl " for about a week, now. And the vibration isn't nearly as bad as it was, before.

Have a good read-up, through the posts, on hear. It will help.

Hi

I'm New to the site,so any help appreciated I purchased a 400 k9 in sept 2009 with 5000 mls on the clock it was registered in april 2009 it now has 6100 on the clock, and it shakes the fillings from my teeth at 10mph juddering and baulking, it also howls from starts in the mornings and I can hear the variator rollers rattling when it warms up. my older burgmans K2 and 2000 models were much smoother.

I took it back to the dealer in Dec 2009 and he said it was dust in the clutch housing they claeaned it out, but it seems worse than ever now and I almost expect it to terminate itself what do I do? Yell

I have a burgman 400K7 with 27,000 miles.

Should I be worried about juddering (who made that word up) and vibration since I have noticed several other 400K7 owners have complained about the problem on their scooters?

My only major problem was having to replace both sets of pullys at 20,000 miles when the drive belt was replaced. Good thing I purchased the extended warranty (not from suzuki) so the warranty covered the parts and installation cost

Any one having any major problems with the 400K7's.

Are there any problems that are milage related?

Looking forward to hearing from anyone although no news might be good news.

I have a k7 2007 with 2500 miles 0n it, that starts its "jutter" at about 1900rpm, and stops about 3000. This started last year. It would br great if this could be stopped. Called local dealer, and he says they have no idea why this is happening.

I will be watching close to see if we can come up with the fix.Laugh

I have a 2007 also… and just had the entire clutch, belt and bell replaced (not covered by warranty, $900). Yet I still get that shuddering between 10 and 20 mph. Have you gotten any new info an a recall?

Rodger,

Thanks for the information.   It will really help.  Im now out of warranty but did report it and had it serviced before this time and the ticket did talk about the vibration.

I will see how it goes and if i have to pay.

Again thanks.Smile

Dan:

The Service Bulletin Info is Bulletin GV/AN No. 41A dated 11/2/2009.  The Subject: Clutch Vibration & Abnormal Noise During Acceleration.  Model: AN400K7-K8.  Reference: AN400 Service Manual (P/N: 99500-34102-03E).  Your dealer should be able to get for you.

Its 4 pages in content and 13 parts have to be replaced.  Once completed a test ride is required.  If at this time vibration and/or clutch noise still exists replace the clutch shoe and the clutch housing.

Hopefuly you still have warranty to cover this otherwise you pay.

I have a copy if you need copy PM me.

Any help from other Burman owerns would be most helpfu.

The latest I have from my wife, who works at the local dealership is that the Bullitin is out, but the parts are still on the way from Japan.

Best to check with your local dealer every few weeks for the latest update in your area.

Might improve relations if you bought something when you visit the shop too.

I just asked my dealer to check for a bulletin or shop notice about this problem, and he found a notice about this very thing. If you still have a warrenty, it is covered. It will take a change in the water hose and a few other items to help correct this problem.

Go to your dealer and ask them to do a search for this bulleitln.Laugh

Hi everyone.

I have just spoken to Suzuki GB customer services (Neil)

Tel: 0500 011959

Neil has just told me that the fix for the juddering and vibration at low speeds is being provided by the factory.

The problem is being caused by a build up of friction dust.

On earlier models than the K8 the frugal part had less legs on it.

The 08 model has more legs on it, leading to the clutch fork part to retain too much debris.

The 08 model has a 5 fix prong fork on it and needs a 3 prong fork putting back on it ( the 3 prong is on earlier models) to correct problem.

Neil went on to tell me that we should all go to our dealers with the problem and tell them this and get them to contact the Suzuki Tech team to tell them what needs to be done and arrange for the 3 prong to be sent to them.

I phoned up my dealer after speaking to suzuki and told them what they said. I am taking my bike in on Saturday. I will keep you informed with what happens.

WATCH THIS SPACE

If you have any doubts abiout this, phone Neil at Suzuki Uk Customer services on the number shown above.Laugh

Took mine in this weekend.

The dealer is CERTAIN that they will find dirt/debris in the transmission and will repair it according to the SERVICE BULLETIN.  He also said there is a whole list of parts to replace with this bulletin.

The bulletin is out there.  Don't let your dealer tell you otherwise!!

I'm not riding too fast….I'm flying too low!!
