Hey Joe,

Are you the rider of a white 650? May have talked with you breifly before start of sheriff sponsered fund raising ride last June.  I have the grey exec. I am unaware of any local burgman clubs or groups.  My weekend riding has been limited to short trips for coffee, lunch etc. Oak Glen is nice.  Had it down to Oceanside/Carlsbad a couple times, and enjoy the trip to work most days.

After the first of the year if you want to meet up for a ride, let me know,

I sure wish I lived near you. That sounds like an AMAZING area to ride in.

I am an Executive owner in southern california, looking for a Burgman group/club to ride and party with.  I especially enjoy long rides on weekends through the San Gabriels or the San Bernardino mountains.  I need a back seat occupant (female) who enjoys riding too.  I have taken my bike to San Francisco and Las Vegas without any big deal.  Let me know if there is/are Burgman clubs in southern california.

I wanted to give you an update to my last message re the possible purchase of a Burgman in the US. I found and just purchased an 08 Burgman Executive in Canda with approx. 700 miles on it. Black with Givi saddlebags, very good condition and well cared for. Brought it home by trailer on Sunday amidst blowing snow, freezing temperatures, etc. Put it into storage last night until spring and am looking forward to riding it then. It will be great to continue riding as I sold my V-Star a couple of years ago. In the meantime I am getting my snowmobiles ready to go in anticipation of riding them in a couple of weeks. Will give an update in the springtime unless I have questions in the meantime.

convert speed to Km from miles

The KM/MPH one is very easy, you just push the right button as it states in the manual.

As for the lights they are on all the time, not sure if they meet the Canadian requirements.

BurgmamUSA.com is another great site for Burgmans.

The following is from Ledude's web site

http://docs.google.com/View?do…..&hl=en

Toggle between MPH and KPH

To change from MPH to KPH (or vice-versa) do the following:

            1.  Turn on ignition switch

            2.  Push the "select" button until ODO shows in the

                 display.

            3.  Holding the "reset" button for 2 seconds will 'toggle'

                 from one to the other.

NOTE: It seems that not all Burgmans are created equal as certain

model years and region specific models

are incapable of performing this task.

Chet

Thanks for the excellant information. The conversion from miles to km should be simple and if the lights are on all the time that will take care of the CDN. requirement for daytime running lights. Makes the import process easier.

40 years of motorcycle riding but nothing for the last 2 years. Would like to resume riding again and am looking at a new Burgman 650. It is located in nthe US and I would import it into Canada. To comply with our requirements I would have to convert speedo to Km from miles and provide daytime running lights. These changes have to be done prior to the bike can be registered. Does anyone have experience in how I would make the change. Prefer to do it myself if possible.

Recently I did take a used 2005 Burgman for a test drive and really enjoyed the experience and am looking at the option of buying that one or importing a new one. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
