Sounds like you had a very positive experience.  That, after all, is why I ride. Hope my first group ride in another week will be the same.   I don't consider my jumping on with another rider on my commutes to be group rides.Smile  There are many here in CA which allows lane splitting or threading, who I don't jump on with.  The lanesplitters must think they

are invincible.

Hi,

Group riding is good and a good way of picking up tips on ones riding if a newbie i certainly learnt plenty from the more experienced riders when i was new to two wheels,i am trying to get my friend to come out in a group ride on her little Harley, but she's reluctant to at the moment and only rides with me,her hubby on his bike and one other friend.Last weekend our Hog chapter were on their way to a rally and one of the female riders lost control of her machine and sadly received fatal injuries.I am unsure of the full story as i was on a weekend away with my scooter club.

LaughHi Scootergrannie,

that was a awesome write up about your group ride it sounds like you had fun and at the  same time learned a few things along the way, good on you I did have good laugh about the bubble gum that would be something I would try to do and not even  think about it And the Squirells don't have that problem here but we do have Kangaroos haven't come across any so far thank God only dead ones on the side of the road everynow and then. Anyway have fun and be safe look forward to hearing more of your adventures Di (happydi)Australia

Hi ScooterGrannie,

Great report .

Out of curiosity I did a UTube search to see if I could see some of the terain you guys might have travelled . Punched in Hawks Nest Park and found this :

Looks like an awsome biker road with lots of twisties although it's obviously a very popular spot judging by the amount of traffic making its way to the top.

Ride Safe,

Did you ride over the bridge on 19?  You were smart to not try and keep up. Better to ride at the speed you are comfortable with, you will live a lot longer.

From the hills of Tennessee welcome to another beautiful day the Lord has made.

Sunday I signed up for the American Cancer Relay Benefit Ride and It was amazing. At first I was a little scare cause hey I.m running with the big dogs today. But when I pulled out with the group of riders There was something that came over me "Hey this ole lady can do this" AS we Rode though the curses of West Virginia I felt the Burgman Grin come over my face and the wind, It was cold! But any who? As I rode though the curses I did get a little behind the other riders but soon made my way to catch up on the straight aways. The sharper the curve the harder I chewed my bubble gum.. AS we stopped at Hawks Nest Park for a break The group congratulated on me keep in up and were amazed about my little bike keep in up with their huge Goldwings. I just dusted off myself and say I had a good teacher. But I have more to learn to this riding and look forward to it.  This ride has taught me so much that I need to know for future rides. That for ONE- you can't spit out chewing gum or blow bubbles with your helmet on. TWO-you can't  go to the bathroom when you think you got to go, Three-Go to the bathroom before you start out .FOUR- make sure you fill up with gas before you start out .LaughFIVE- Have a good time and be safe watch out for those crazy squirrel's they have no clue which way they want a go when they cross the road in front of ya. remember me in your prayers as I attempt to take my drivers test on May 28 at 10 am. Most of all this ride has taught me IF YOU CAN'T RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS, JUST STAY ON THE PORCH!
