Anyone not getting good M.P.G. should make certain that the air cleaner, and plug are in good condition (the former will affect the latter)

The most common cause for poor M.P.G. seems to be a brake binding, remember 3 disks on later Burgmans.

Chet you are so right.

I went to work on it today, first time I have ridden a bike to work in over 10 years because of the faffing about.

I put my rucksack under the seat, and when I got to work, swapped it for my lid and jacket.

I feel like a born again biker, to think I came so close to giving up riding, I's so glad I bought the Burgman and will never look back, and would have another any day of the week, I love it!

I am very happy with my new bike and, when I stopped off, my helmet and

jacket went under the seat, leaving me to walk round normally, bliss!

I own a 82 Honda GL500I Silverwing and was thinking of riding that the other day. It has a top box and two side boxes and still it is not big enough to hold my helmet and jacket. Riding the Burgman, both go under the seat and I still have a top box if I need more room. It kind of spoils you.

From the hills of Tennessee welcome to another beautiful day the Lord has made.

Hi All

I picked my AN400 up today and thought I would take it for a test around Wales.

I filled up from very empty and it cost me £13 (£1.139 per litre). This went on to provide me with 200 miles of smiles and 80 mpg (UK).

Have a look on http://www.fuelly.com I have posted all by fill ups there and there is a record of a few Burgman 400s.

My lifetime average, mostly commuting (6k miles so far) is around 70 UK MPG.

LaughRemember UK gallons are 1.2 US gallons (Winchester gallon) ,or 1 US gallon = .83 UK gallons.

So 76 MPG in UK gallons = 63 MPG US Gallons Laugh.  Cool wish I drove in slower traffic, Dallas, TX is not a slow pace for anything.

I regularly get 56 to 58 MPG at about 75 MPH in U S gallons.  This converts to 67 to 69 MPG with UK gallons.

Well enjoy and keep the windshield up.

Jackskip here. Have had my AN400 just coming up 10 years – since July '99. Now done 25,000 miles mainly touring. Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Scottish Highlands and Isle of Man. Have kept an accurate petrol log and in that time she has averaged 76mpg.  Some fast Motorway miles but largely used at around the 55/65 mph rate. If you open it up to the 75 plus mark then the mpg will drop sharply, same applies to the Traffic Light GP. I know – the temptation is terrible, try and curb it !! Your grandfather will now sign off !! Cheers, safe riding.

I've got my first 600 miles on my 400 Burgman and it varies between 55 and 60 or so.

Of course, it all depends on how I'm driving it….can't help but drive it FAST….so I'm assuming it would be better mileage if I didn't!!!Wink

I'm not riding too fast….I'm flying too low!!

First 120 miles on my 2008 AN400 and averaging 62 mpg unconfirmed.

I'm happy, my Burgman is happy, and my wallet is happy.
