I stumbled across this modified Suzuki Burgman and thought you had t see it.

Suzuki Burgman Extended Protection Information

I have to admit that I’m not necessarily a huge fan of extended warranty or extended protection plans. But, there have been times that I had them and got a new engine in my car for free so they have paid off.

By their very nature, Suzuki Extended Protection (SEP) and other extended warranty plans are designed to cost more than the average claim. This difference between actual average cost and actual average charge for the SEP is called profit.

For some the ability to self-insure and play the odds pay off much better in the long run if they could afford a big repair bill if something major went, but the odds are that it won’t.

For others that might not have the resources to reach into their pocket and pull out a load of cash for a major and unexpected repair, then the SEP can bring you peace of mind.

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to these things, just personal preference.

Lemon Pledge to Clean Scooter and Clearview Windscreen

Don’t laugh at me just yet but apparently Lemon Pledge is the cleaner of choice for many scooter and motorcycle owners. I scoffed at it at first, “Really, Lemon Pledge!” But it appears to be a cleaning trick that goes back for decades on scooters and motorcycles.

For people that have swirls in the paint, users of Lemon Pledge, swear that it reduces or eliminates them and they also insist that it is soft on the windscreen, lays down a protective coating and wipes away bug guts.

Now I just recently bought a can of Plexus to clean my Clearview windscreen. Damn! If I had known about the Lemon Pledge trick I would have saved myself $14.

From now on it’s Lemon Pledge for me to clean the Burgman scooter and Clearview windscreen.

By the way, I usually just use dishwashing soap to wash the bike. I could go with much fancier stuff but regular old dishwashing soap seems to always get the crud off.

The Dying Battery on the 2008 Burgman 650 Executive

Not sure if anyone else has run into this problem but for some reason if I don’t ridge the Burgman for two days the battery is dead. It must be a slow drain someplace. The first time it died I think it was my fault since I had not closed the seat all the way and the light remained on.

After that I discovered that there is a switch on the underside of the seat that you can use to switch off the under seat light when the seat is open or not fully closed. And I must admit with all the stuff I store in there when I ride and all the times I’m in and out of that massive storage area, I probably have not latched the seat closed every time.

I thought I had the situation resolved after that. For over a week I had not a single problem with the battery draining and the scooter started strong every time.

After the initial dead battery I went out and purchased a battery charger so now it is a cinch to bring the battery back to life but I’m going to have to take the scooter in to the dealer and get them to look and see if their might be a wiring problem that is leading to the discharge of the batter when the scooter is off.

I really don’t look at this as a problem, but just a minor issue that can be fixed, and it will be.

What I did learn after talking to a Suzuki repair shop was that sometimes dealers are in such a hurry to deliver bikes that they don’t always fully charge the battery the first time, and if that is the case the battery may not hold a full charge latter.

I don’t think that is the issue in my case but it is an interesting fact to remember.
