This is a short video showing the CV transmission of a Suzuki Burgman 400 in use. The front pulley is connected to the engine crankshaft. The rear pulley is connected to a centrifugal clutch. As the engine speed increases, the clutch engages, which connects the rear wheel to the rear pulley through a reduction gearbox drive.

As the engine speed increases, weights in the front pulley cause the pulley space to close up, forcing the belt outward. This pulls the spring-loaded rear pulley space to open up, forcing the belt inward. Effectively, this changes the ratio gradually, without any gear shifts. Click here for more.
