One of my passions is photography and video production. Not satisfied with just holding a camera on a ride I wanted to find a new and unique Burgman video angle. My special order gear arrived today and I assembled my video outrigger to shoot some test video.

My original idea was that if I placed the camera as close to the ground as possible and shot with a wide angle lens that we’d get some good feeling of speed and action. The outrigger mount allowed me to get the camera off to the right side about 6 inches off the scooter.

This was my first ride with the outrigger in place and I had to take right turns very gently, not much lean at all, to avoid scraping the camera. I just need to get comfortable with how much lean I can use. That being said, I was already mentally prepared, if I had to in an emergency situation, to sacrifice the video camera in a hard right hand lean. If I had not already settled that issue in my mind I would never had ridden with the camera in this position.

Now I never scraped the ground with the camera on the test ride, I avoided that. However I did manage to give the camera a really solid kick when I went to put my feat down when I stopped.

I’m satisfied with the video test, the position looks good, the mount held great and the final video of my local loop came out well. Please note that any busting of speed limits is purely simulated. :-)

I hope you like the video, even though it is just a test video.

  1. WELL DONE…you do get that sence of speed. I have done some filming on my 400 ,and use the the GPS mount between the handle bars.. see maxitag in youtube. it all depends on what you want to see,my first go was hand held,”"not a good idea”" SPRINGER!!!

  2. Looks good. I’ll have to try that kind of mount next.

  3. I bought the Extreme video helmet camera kit. You can see my 1st short clip on u-tube just type in Burgman helmet cam and you should find the clip. I have not had time to do much riding as of late, but plan on taking some long rides once we get below 105 degrees here.
