“I live in Melbourne, Australia. This is my new 650, trading up from a SYM 250. I love this bike though it has taken a week or so to get used to its weight, and handling characteristics. It’s Winter here at the moment, so have had plenty of wet weather to ride in, and handles it very well. I ride an average of 600miles a month, rain,hail or shine, Have only been riding for 3 years, and just turned 55..riding keeps you young!”

I live half a world away in Wisconsin USA. I’m 52 and just started riding last year, so we sort of have the same story. I told my wife I needed a midlife crisis. I gave her the option….a motorcycle or a girl on the side. She told me the bike would be cheaper for me.
It’s summer here. The weather has been perfect…70-80 degrees F every day.
I’ve got a 400…but I hope to have a 650 Exec by the time I’m….say….55?

Peter, I just bought my 2005 650 Burgman ,after many different bikes in the last 44 years I decided it was time for scooter. I’m 60 and have some aches and pains issues, but I can ride the Burgman and be some what comfortable. This truely the most awsome ride I’ve ever had. My wife thinks it is pretty cool also. I am a 60 year old and have been riding since 1971, I just sold a GTR1400 and got a 650 Burgman, I think it’s the best bike Ive had lacks a little power but makes up for it everywhere else, Peter why don’t you contact the Victorian Masonic Motorcycle Assoc (www.vmma.net.au) and come riding with us sometime, Im the only one with a scooter at present but that may change when people realise how good scooters ar now

I am from Melbourne as well. In a year i did 22000 km on my Burgman 650. bought it new. goes well and i am loving it.
Hi Peter a nice picture of you and the bike I also have a Brugman a 400 cc candy red brand new and loving it I am not as brave as you tackling the colder weather but have been out in a little rain I am 41 and just started riding the maxi scooter after having a Honda Shadow 200 and not comfortable with the gears and hardly rode it and could never get it to 100klms but this one easy as to get there a beautiful bike to ride the weight for me was a bit scary 200kilos but it didn’t take to long to get use to it and I am loving it I wish I had started with the Burgie first but I gues I will make up for it now have fun and stay safe its good to see some more Aussie out there riding these awesome bikes have fun Di(happydi) Aus
