All but the first two pictures are from the Mentone Rally today.

The ‘Caution Flammable’ warning on this men’s room vending machine did not provide much comfort either. It reminds me of the Friends episode where Ross goes to the tanning salon and gets too much on one side.

I came down a hill to the three way intersection. Across the street from the intersection was this emergency station. The big yellow barriers in their front yard made me laugh. I wonder how many people slid through the flashing red light into their front room before they put those up?

  1. Steve…thanks for the pictures and the stories; they’re great! You’ve had me laughing. Take it easy on those cops. You don’t want any performance awards ;)

  2. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I really look forward to reading your story daily.

  3. I’m enjoying your story as well….the barriers are there because an 18 wheeler almost took out the EMS station early one morning…Hwy 117 is the truck route between Huntsville, AL and Atlanta.
As for the “flammable” warning…hopefully one is not smoking at the same time they are getting spritzed – LOL!

  4. What was the story of the car tire on the back of the Burgman? I didn’t see that!

  5. Apparently the auto tire lasts longer and I overheard someone say it was a 165 profile tire but with the square shoulders of a car tire, you can see the squareness of the tire in the picture above, I’d be a bit hesitant in leaning in corners and hoping for a maximum road patch with that on the back. Maybe that is just mental hesitation rather than physical reality but in riding isn’t that 50% of your comfort?

I think I’ll just stick with the motorcycle tires and applaud the mileage others get out of putting a car tire on the back.

  6. Hate we missed the ride, looks like a good one. Can you tell me what car tire you are using on the burgie? i have found the size (165/65-R14) but I cannot find the brand, and my tire dealer says they can vary in size by brand, also, is it a “p165″ or is there any exact model number you cangive, and where can i get one, and who put it on for you.
